When Liberals Attack

It must be painfully lonely to be a Liberal.

For four decades Bob Woodward has been heralded as one of the true bastions of journalism for his work on the Watergate scandal of the Nixon administration, as half of the dynamic duo of Woodward and (Carl) Bernstein.

Woodward has continued to crank out regular investigative columns and bestselling books chock full of insider accounts and sources. He has been a regular target for complaints from conservatives and often scorned for being a central figure in the liberal media.

Now that Woodward has correctly called the Obama administration on their ongoing lies about who is the responsible for the so-called “sequester” mess and then let it be known that senior administration officials had contacted him and suggested that he would “regret” making those comments calling out the Obama-ites, liberal are in full attack mode on their one-time hero.

Liberal media types and even Obama administration types have labeled Woodward everything from a liar, to old, and even suggested he is “senile.” I thought liberals we for protecting seniors? Apparently that kind, caring false-façade only matters until you piss them off, then all bets are off.

This is just another example of the true colors of a liberal; while they attack conservatives as being mean-spirited, it is they who would truly stop at nothing to attack those that they see as a threat. Once you've crossed that line, you are on your own!

David Fredosso – Spin Masters: How the Media Ignored the Real News and Helped Reelect Barack Obama (Regnery Books)

David Fredosso’s new book Spin Masters: How the Media Ignored the Real News and Helped Reelect Barack Obama is a chapter and verse indictment of the mainstream media and their complicity in not only ignoring the pitiful results of Obama’s first term, but their creation of news and storylines that didn’t exist.

Fredosso recounts one of the most glaring examples of news creation when Democrat operative George Stephanopolis, who collects a paycheck from ABC Propaganda (formerly ABC News) and his promulgation of the “war on women” and badgering of Mitt Romney about his “plan” to ban birth control. Anyone who was truly paying attention and had an IQ above room temperature knew that there was no such “plan” or even thought process, even from the most pro-life Republican candidate Rick Santorum.

Fredosso makes the case that the media went far beyond debate moderator Candy Crowley of CNN’s inserting herself into the debate between Romney and Obama by ignoring countless high profile issues that were part and parcel of Obama’s first term including; terrible economic numbers, wasteful government spending that contributed to a huge increase in the national debt, serious abuses of power like the so-called recess appointments, despite  the fact Senate was still in session and the utter mishandling of the Benghazi attack.

Anyone in their right mind who gave serious consideration to Obama’s first term has to conclude that he ranks among the worst Presidents in U.S. history, who has done serious if not irreparable harm to the country, yet in the media vacuum and echo chamber, he still managed to get re-elected.

Fredosso’s detailing of the media’s malpractice should be a clear signal to the inept Republican party and to those who care about the future of this country, that if we are ever going to pull out of the tailspin created by two terms of Obama, then they will have to make significant progress on improving their methods of communication and making an impact on the American public. If that does not come to pass then the stupid masses will continue to be lead around by the nose by the media and continue to reelect the worst possible candidates.

My Share of the Task: A Memoir – General Stanley McChrystal (Portfolio)

If you are looking for a book filled with bitterness at the Obama administration in response to General Stanley McChrystal dismissal, then this is not your book. If you’re looking for a book that responds to the Rolling Stone Magazine piece or the follow up book, The Operators, both penned by the smarmy little weasel, Michael Hastings, then this is not your book.

If you are looking for an interesting memoir full of insight not only into the McChrystal’s long, successful military career, but also a story laced with leadership with a local and global worldview, then this is your book. McChyrstal’s career in an interesting mix of classroom, fellowship training and boots on the ground action. This is not the tale of cooridors of  power, perfumed prince, that is more a product of the Pentagon than the battlefield.

 

In My Share of the Task McChystal delivers intimate details of the strategy and the on the ground execution of the hunt for Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the terror leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq. McChrystal cut his teeth in special forces, so he was not risk averse to strapping it on and spending a night in the ruts. You can feel the regret in the passages that describe a just missed attempt to take out Zarqawi.

The book takes it’s title from the Army Ranger’s creed which reads in part; I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be, one-hundred-percent and then some. That creed rings true in the pages of the book which are long on spreading the credit to colleagues and underlings in place of the, I, me, my approach that’s so typical of these kinds of books.

Along the way McChrystal provides a guide post to leadership of a large, complex organization.

Bullies: How the Left’s Culture of Fear and Intimidation Silences America (Threshold Editions)

The impending death of the Republican Party will have been caused because they did nothing to staunch the bleeding caused by thousands of tiny knife wounds inflicted by a well entrenched army of the left and the fact that the limp wristed, wuss leaders of the Party (see John Boehner) did nothing to fight back.

Ben Shapiro’s book Bullies: How the Left’s Culture of Fear and Intimidation Silences America is a call to arms and a call to action for conservatives. Shapiro lays out chapter and verse, example after example of how the left has built a multi-faceted approach not only to politics, but to power.

It’s reads like something out of Chinese military strategist Sun Tzu the way the left has steadily built a power base in institutions like the media, the education system, Hollywood, and the non-profit world and utilized that power to beat down (in the case of union thugs, sometimes literally) the opposition.

Republicans and conservatives have been cowed to silence for fear of being labeled racist, homophobe, or anti-this that or the other thing. In the process the Left has so thoroughly changed the face of our culture that what once would have been deemed outrageous is now seen as somehow normal.

Shapiro’s call to action is that conservatives are at a tipping point (to use a cultural buzzword) where they charged with deciding if they want to fight or switch. Do they want to stand up and fight back on behalf of the Republican Party, which all too often bails on conservatives, or do they want to build something new to challenge the status quo. In may boil down to the ages old conundrum of the “devil you know…”

Shapiro’s best point is that conservatives can no longer be silenced by the Left’s tactics. It won’t be easy to withstand the withering assault that will come your way if you choose to take on the ingrained machine of the Left. I think that Shapiro really exposed how weak the Left really is when they get confronted head on during his recent interview with snotty Brit, CNN’s Piers Morgan. When confronted head on Morgan shows what a sputtering moron he really is; it is a clear case of an merciless beat down by Shapiro. It is that kind of gloves off response that is long overdue from conservatives.

I laughed out loud at the irony when Shapiro quotes failed Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who was talking about Obama’s approach to fixing the economy when he said “When you have an enterprise in trouble, the number one rule is focus, focus, focus.” Perhaps that is good advice for the Republican Party; clearly they have an enterprise in trouble, the question is what will their focus be? Clearly Ben Shapiro has laid out a strong case for how to bounce back.

CNN's Piers Morgan Get Smacked Like a Rented Mule

In what I can only describe as one of the clearest beat downs in recent television history Ben Shapiro, editor at large for Breitbart, slapped CNN's Piers Morgan around like a rented mule in a debate over gun control.

Shapiro was relentless in his chock full of facts debate style. So flumoxed was snotty Brit that he clearly had no ammunition to respond to Shapiro so he began to feign outrage which was slapped aside with a calm, cool that made Morgan look even more unprepared.

Christianity, Islam and Atheism: The Struggle for The Soul of The West - William Kilpatrick

The events of 9/11 brought to the shores of the United States the first real interactions most Americans had had with the Islamic religion. While we had been victims of prior Islamic fundamentalist terrorist attacks, including the first World Trade Center attack in 1993, most Americans thought of this as a problem based “over there” in the Middle East.

 

While the loss of nearly 3000 of our fellow citizens has had an impact our all of us, the real damage may have been done in the time since that terrorist attack in the form of our perpetuated ignorance of the Muslim faith and the “journalists” and politicians responsible for the politically correct cleansing that continues to this very day.

 

William Kirkpatrick issues a clarion wake-up call in Christianity, Islam and Atheism: The Struggle for The Soul of The West. The amazing thing about this book is not only Kirkpatrick’s willingness to tackle the subject head on, but the fact that those who need to read this book the most, those so-called journalists and progressive politicians are the people least likely to ever pick up and read this book.

Their twisted worldview has been formed by not only political correctness and a desire to make all things equal, but by plain and simple ignorance. Those among us including former Pre4sident George W. Bush, who loudly proclaim the “Islam is a religion of peace,” clearly never bothered to read the teachings of the Koran. And those with a superior, smarter than you attitude; meaning most liberals, will write off this book and those who want to take on this subject as some sort of backwards hick, “cling to their guns and their Bibles.”

Kirkpatrick will undoubtedly take some heat for his work here, but those with truly open minds and a desire to learn more about the threats we face, should tackle this not light reading and be willing to break through the pre-conceived notions that have been forced down our throats by the lazy media who are not willing to do the heavy lifting.

Jake Tapper – The Outpost (Little Brown and Company)

Seemingly since time began, nations have tried to tame the far reaches of Afghanistan. Those attempts have seemingly been doomed to fail. Most recently Russia and currently the United States have made their attempt. The Russians, after many years, many lives and much fortune expended left with their tail between their legs. Through mission creep, far away from their original stated intent, the U.S. is taking their swing in what can best be described as community outreach soldiering.

It is that attempt to win over one such far flung corner of Afghanistan that is the story at the center of ABC News journalist Jake Tapper’s book, The Outpost. Tapper lays out the tail of 53 brave warriors who are outmanned, outgunned and stationed on the down slope of three steep mountains that it wouldn’t take a skilled military planner to determine was an ill-advised location for such an outpost.

Agree or disagree with Tapper’s perspective on the news, he does a fine job of capturing not only the locations lunar-like landscape but also detailing what can only be described as a shocking lack of common sense on the part of those that determined the ill-fated locale, but also the clarity brought by those who were tasked with the job of making it happen.

Through shear grit and determination, the soldiers put in this unimaginable situation prevailed and only an after action investigation would make it clear to the Pentagon that this outpost was not only a glaring error, but should never have been placed at that location. Tapper does well to serve the story of the brave men who fought and died and those who survived what would be one of the deadliest battles of the war in Afghanistan.
